Frederick Beesley was one of Victorian London’s famous gunmakers setting up his own company in 1879. Although making only around 1,800 guns, Beesley was an innovator lodging some 20 patents. He is perhaps most famous for his side-by-side hammerless self-opener which revolutionised the British sporting gun, but also designed an over-and-under called the ‘Shotover’ although few remain.
